Product Comparison
What's the difference between Single Rack and Double Rack?
The Single Rack is our most compact mobile workstation, featuring a single 19-inch rack bay ideal for streamlined setups with fewer components. The Double Rack provides two side-by-side rack bays, effectively doubling your available rack space while maintaining a single rolling footprint. Choose the Single Rack when portability and a small footprint are the priority, and the Double Rack when you need to house a full production ecosystem including switchers, audio mixers, graphics systems, and recording devices in one cart. View all available configurations on our Models page.
How do I choose between Side Operator and Double Rack?
The Side Operator features a unique side-opening lid design that creates an L-shaped workspace, giving the operator a dedicated work surface alongside the rack equipment. The Double Rack, by contrast, opens from the front with a traditional clamshell or lift-off lid and focuses on maximizing rack density. If your workflow requires an operator to sit or stand beside the cart with monitors and a control surface at ergonomic height, the Side Operator is the better choice. If you need maximum rack space in a compact footprint and your operator works from a separate position, the Double Rack is ideal. Not sure which is right for you? Contact us for a personalized recommendation.
What is the Split-Apart Cubes system?
The Split-Apart Cubes system is our modular approach to mobile production, consisting of individual stackable rack units that can be combined or separated depending on the job. Each cube is a self-contained rack module with its own casters, handles, and optional lids, so you can deploy one cube for a small shoot or stack multiple cubes for a full production. This design is especially popular with rental houses and crews who need to scale their setup up or down depending on the project scope. Like all Bigfoot systems, each cube is custom-built with extruded aluminum frames at our facility in Vacaville, CA.
Products & Specs
What materials are Bigfoot systems made from?
Our systems are built with extruded aluminum frames and LMDP composite plastic panels. These materials meet or exceed MIL-STD 810G standards for durability while maintaining a lightweight, mobile form factor.
What is the weight capacity?
Capacity varies by model. Our systems are engineered with heavy-duty locking casters rated for the full payload of each configuration. Contact us with your equipment list for a recommendation.
What rack sizes are available?
All models use standard 19" rack widths and can be built to any rack unit height and depth. From compact 2-5RU systems to full 22RU+ double-wide configurations.
What lid options are available?
Solid tops, storage tops, hinged lids, lift-off lids, and clamshell designs. Lids can incorporate monitor mounts, work surfaces, and table conversion kits.
What equipment fits in a Bigfoot mobile workstation?
Bigfoot systems accept any standard 19-inch rack-mountable equipment, including video switchers, audio mixers, recording and playback servers, network switches, power distribution units, and signal processing gear. Because every system is custom-built, we design the rack depth, ventilation, and cable routing specifically for your equipment list. Clients regularly install TriCaster, ATEM, Ross Video, Grass Valley, and FOR-A switchers alongside gear from companies like Shure, Yamaha, AJA, and Blackmagic Design. Send us your equipment list and we will design a system around it.
How much weight can a Bigfoot cart hold?
Weight capacity varies by model and caster configuration, but Bigfoot systems are engineered with heavy-duty locking casters rated to support the full payload of a fully loaded rack. Our extruded aluminum frames provide exceptional strength-to-weight ratios, and we select caster ratings based on your specific equipment list during the design phase. Contact us with your gear list and we will recommend the right model and caster package to ensure safe, reliable mobility.
What monitor sizes can be mounted on a Bigfoot system?
Bigfoot systems support a wide range of monitor sizes, from compact 7-inch on-rack displays to large 32-inch production monitors mounted on the lid or on articulating arms. We offer VESA-compatible mounting solutions including fixed lid mounts, adjustable tilt mounts, and multi-monitor configurations. During the design process, we ensure the lid structure, hinge strength, and counterbalancing are engineered to safely support your specific monitor setup. Browse our model lineup to see examples of different monitor configurations.
Can I integrate TriCaster, ATEM, or Ross Video switchers?
Absolutely. Bigfoot systems are designed to integrate seamlessly with all major production switchers including NewTek TriCaster, Blackmagic ATEM, Ross Video Carbonite and Graphite, Grass Valley, FOR-A, and Broadcast Pix. We are an authorized integration partner with several of these manufacturers and design the rack layout, ventilation, power distribution, and cable management specifically around your chosen switcher platform. Many of our clients deploy turnkey systems with the switcher pre-installed and cabled, ready to power on and produce.
Buying & Pricing
How much does a Bigfoot mobile workstation cost?
Pricing varies based on model, rack configuration, lid style, monitor mounting, power distribution, and other custom options. Because every Bigfoot system is built to order, we provide detailed quotes tailored to your specific requirements. Contact us with your project details for a personalized quote. You can also use our Savings Calculator to see how a Bigfoot system can reduce your total cost of ownership compared to traditional rack-and-table setups.
What's the typical lead time for a custom build?
Most custom Bigfoot systems are designed, built, and shipped within 4 to 6 weeks from order confirmation. Lead times can vary based on the complexity of your configuration and our current production schedule. If you have a hard deadline for an event or deployment, let us know early and we will work with you to meet it. Rush orders can often be accommodated for an additional fee. You can also schedule a visit to our production facility in Vacaville, California to see systems in various stages of build and discuss your project in person. Additionally, our dealer network may have demo units available in your region. Contact us to arrange a demonstration or find the nearest dealer with a system you can evaluate.
Setup & Deployment
How fast can I deploy a Bigfoot system?
Most Bigfoot systems can be fully deployed and operational in 5 to 15 minutes, compared to 45 to 60 minutes or more for traditional rack-and-table setups. Simply roll the cart into position, open the lid, connect power and signal cables, and you are ready to produce. This rapid deployment time is one of the key advantages our clients at ESPN, Amazon, Stanford, and other major organizations rely on for time-critical live productions. See our Savings Calculator to quantify how much time and money faster setup saves you.
How many crew members are needed for setup?
A single crew member can deploy most Bigfoot systems thanks to the integrated caster wheels, ergonomic handles, and self-contained design. There is no need to unload, assemble, and cable separate racks and tables on-site. For larger Double Rack XL configurations or systems that need to navigate stairs or loading docks, two crew members are recommended. This reduction in setup labor translates directly into cost savings on every production day.
Can Bigfoot systems be shipped internationally?
Yes, we ship Bigfoot systems internationally and have deployed units across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Our systems are crated and palletized for safe freight shipping, and we can work with your preferred freight forwarder or recommend trusted logistics partners. Contact us with your destination and we will provide a complete shipping quote including any applicable export documentation.
